Registered Nursing Schools
Registered Nursing Schools has been developed with the beginning nurse and the continuing nursing student in mind. We have created this site in order to provide an unbiased view of nursing schools and programs (in some cases we evaluate nursing programs that are exclusively online).
Is this site about schools that provide Registered Nursing degrees or is this site about nursing schools that are registered with the American Nurses Association?
Actually, the answer is all of the above.
Nursing Schools
Since there are thousands of registered nursing schools, putting this site together speedily and responsibly has been a task. Currently we are developing the site according to search criteria. The most searched for terms get the bread and butter here so we have developed pages on Registered Nursing schools in California and also Registered Nursing schools in New York.
What Schools we Include
We have decided not to list any strictly online nursing programs for several reasons. Mostly they have so many different criteria for acceptance that they really need a site all to themselves (which we have developed). They also have tuition that are difficult to pin down (which we don't really like) and frankly, they have quite varied levels of user experience (which we take into account when rating the best and worst registered nursing schools.
So online nursing programs are out.
We list community colleges, junior colleges, universities and trade schools that have nursing programs. Being partially online is a plus and we definitely list that. We also list programs that are provided for by hospitals or other healthcare facilities. Though the last bunch are not really registered nursing schools, they are certainly a place to become a registered nurse or in some cases go even higher into a registered nursing specialty.
One thing that certainly is the case on this site is that every school or program we list is accredited by one of the following nursing organizations:
- American Nurses Association
- National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)
- National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
- American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
If we discover that a nursing school or nursing program is not accredited or that they lose their accreditation, we remove them from the site. it is so significant that we do not even want to promote (or direct nursing students to) any non-accredited nursing school.
Future Site Development
Additional plans for this registered nursing schools involve a sophisticated 1 to 10 star rating system for nursing schools and nursing programs, NCLEX practice exams and study guides, interviews with nursing school staff and instructors, a calendar for each of the registered nursing schools we list (things like enrollment dates, graduation and exam dates).
We know that not all registered nursing schools would necessarily prefer us to list their tuition rates, especially alongside their competitors, but we feel obligated to off this resource to you as completely transparent, honest and unbiased.
We will also have a section on our site with feeds from the American Nurses Association as well as others grouped together so you can check any updates in the nursing field (especially updates to accreditation policies for various registered nursing schools).
So without all the ads and disguised sponsorship of specific nursing schools that other similar sites undoubtedly contain (we do have a couple ads to pay the bills but they are well marked and not hindering your evaluation of the nursing schools) we welcome you to the site and hope you have the nursing programs or the nursing school you are looking for to advance your career.
Of course, it needs to be said that any and all feedback is welcome so please do not hesitate to post on our Facebook page, follow us on our Twitter profile send a contact email to us or simple comment on one of the nursing programs you may be familiar with.
We look forward to serving you. Welcome to Registered Nursing Schools.
